Nancy Steinberger is a fiddler specializing in bluegrass, acoustic jazz, and country music. She is currently available for free-lance work and recording sessions. As a former fiddle instructor at Swallow Hill in Denver, she has a strong background in all traditional and progressive fiddle styles. Highlights of Nancy's performance experience include a two-year run with Bonnie and the Clydes, opening for Randy Travis, winning the Rocky Grass fiddle contest, performing on the main stage at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band contest with Giddyup Kitty, and playing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Eastern Michigan University Symphony. She has been a professional violinist in the Ann Arbor Symphony and the Fort Collins Symphony, and has been a fiddler with other bands including Homemade Jam, Heartwood Hollow, Hot Lunch Bluegrass, Giddyup Kitty and the Coal Creek Bluegrass Band. Her credentials also include studying classical piano beginning at the age of 4, attending the Interlochen Arts Academy for high school, and being a violin performance major at Eastern Michigan University, the University of Michigan, and a Master of Music student at Colorado State University.

Nancy is an experienced and patient teacher, and was featured in two of Pete Wernick's best-selling Bluegrass Jamming DVDs from Homespun Tapes. Nancy has studied with several master teachers, including artists who play other instruments (Jayme Stone, banjo and James "Rooster" Olson, guitar). She is currently working on an instructional video for bluegrass improvisation based on the Melodic Embellishment Method. Nancy also teaches classical violin, viola, cello, and bass and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Colorado State University.

Ms. Steinberger is also an active composer. Her composing studio includes a Yamaha Motif XF8 music production synthesizer, Pro Tools 9.0 digital audio workstation and recording system, and Sibelius notation and score editing software. She is a member of ASCAP.
